On Monday June 1, Palo Alto City Council will meet to study the deployment of the Flock surveillance system (6:20-7:20pm). Please join us at City Hall to demand that the Flock contract be terminated, Flock cameras be removed, Flock data be deleted, and the Flock system be uninstalled. Send an email to the City Council at City.Council@PaloAlto.gov before the end of the day on Sunday, May 31. Feel free to use these sample emails as a starting point. In your own words is even better. See more info, including talking points, and sign up for the speaking slot.
We had an unexpected success: we worked on this since February, reaching out to Rep. Mullin, Rep. Liccardo, and Rep. Lofgren, asking them to provide direct Congressional oversight, make an unannounced visit to the California City Detention Center, and report the findings. And they just did (well, 2 of them)! See Mullin's and Lofgren's press releases.
These cost me $5; you're always welcome to give more :) Other groups, e.g., charge $25. Please let me know if you'll take one and I'll set it on the porch.
On June 14, Reclaim Our Flag Day, we need about five folks to greet people, give them flags, and spread them out along El Camino to make a visual statement. Reply to this email to let me know!
Talarico postcards are on the porch (US Senate campaign in TX, Activate America, due by Aug.15)! You can pick up to write from home or join us for a in-person writing party every week to write.
