Sorry about last night's CA governor forum! Organized by a group of CA Indivisibles, it somehow turned into Tom Steyer advertorial, yikes. Please consider watching tonight's debate to cleanse and make up your own mind: https://www.mercurynews.com/2026/05/05/heres-how-to-watch-tonights-governors-debate/
A federal environmental review has been released for FCI Dublin; this is a key step toward turning the site into an ICE detention center in the Bay Area, which would almost certainly increase local ICE harassment and moral catastrophe. Such reviews have been successfully used in other places to stop detention centers, but only if the public shows up. Let’s make it clear: no ICE detention center in Dublin.
What to do:
Yes, yes, it's old-fashioned and a pain to call people, but, after canvassing, it IS the most effective way to reach voters. Please join us for an in-person newbie phone training on Saturday, May 16: https://www.mobilize.us/itsblueturn/event/898821/
Bummed out after Supreme Court guts the crowning civil rights achievement? On Saturday, May 9, our friends at IPA+ are holding a “Taking Back the House” event: learn why CA-22 in Central Valley is a key race, hear from Judge LaDoris Cordell on what’s at stake for voting rights, and get plugged into ways to take action, including assembling know-your-rights whistle kits.
And, of course, see you at our monthly meeting on May 16, with our special guest Lisa Ratner, Co-President, League of Women Voters of Palo Alto: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/750621/
Current campaigns on the porch: postcards to inform Navajo Nation voters in AZ about expanded mail voting access and postcardsto register likely Democratic voters in IA-03, a key toss-up House district. Pick up to work from home or write in person with us (next one is May 9).
