February 16, 2026 Email to Active Group

This “Active Group 2” email is in addition to our monthly update that goes to the full list. It’s meant for members who want to take action and don’t mind more frequent messages (about once every 1–2 weeks). In this web version, some sensitive details may be omitted; the best way to stay fully informed is to sign up for the email list.

------ GROUP EMAIL TEST & NO KINGS 3

First thing first: group email test. Please respond to this email with your answer to the question below. This list is meant for people who can be mobilized for action. It’s completely okay if you don’t want to or can’t be that person right now, just let me know, and I’ll take you off the list. You’ll still be able to read most of our emails on the website under “Check out our latest ‘Group 2’ newsletter”; it doesn’t have 100% of what’s in the emails, but it’s pretty close. If you don’t respond, I’ll probably remove you from the list, because I’d rather keep it to people who are actually seeing and reading these emails than a bunch of (hopefully) friendly ghosts. 🙂

Question: How will you be involved with No Kings 3, March 28? Hint: our event is https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/898763/. You:
☐ will be there
☐ will tell other people about NKD3
☐ will help plan
☐ will help on the day of

------ ICE

Do you want to fight ICE terror and support our communities? Come to our Melt ICE team meeting. We’ll walk through what we’ve been doing, what we want to do next, and how you can plug in (rapid response, know-your-rights outreach, anti-ICE kits, Flock / corporate pressure, and more). Thu, Feb. 19, 7pm. If you can't make it, but want to join the team, let me know!!!

Relatedly, on Feb.24, there will be Mountain View City Council meeting which will include a portion about Flock surveillance cameras that are used by ICE. Here's more info with talking points and other related events, but tl;dr it's at 5:30pm at 500 Castro Street, 2nd Floor. Come even if you don't want to speak, just to show support, numbers count.

And related to that, there'll be a virtual "EFFecting Change: Get the Flock Out of Our City" from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Feb. 19, 12pm: https://www.eff.org/event/effecting-change-get-flock-out-our-city

------ WI SUPREME COURT

WI Supreme Court Elections
First big election of 2026 is April 7 WI Supreme Court. Here's the message from Judge Chris Taylor that she recorded just for our group!
1) We are trying to gather more interest around the phone banking, one of the most effective ways to get voters. Shalini is going to demystify the process, train and support folks, at an in-person phone bank to Wisconsin on Thursday, 11:30am-1:30pm: https://www.mobilize.us/itsblueturn/event/898821/. Like everything, it's more fun together.
2) Currently on the porch there are postcard packages to WI, due March 10 (also to CA, to flip US House seat).

------ STANFORD ALUMNI

Stanford Alumni?
Some Stanford alumni are forming a new group, Stand Strong Stanford, as part of the Stand for Campus Freedom movement, which includes alumni organizations such as Crimson Courage. Complete this survey to express your concerns about impingements on academic freedom and other issues, and forward the survey link to other Stanford alumni you know (graduates of residencies and fellowships also count).

------ STOP MORE ICE FUNDING

Right now, Congress is negotiating funding for the Department of Homeland Security, including ICE and CBP. Phone calls matter because they’re one of the clearest signals Congress gets about what constituents are paying attention to. Calls from “safe blue” districts like ours still serve two purposes: they help set the expectations for Democratic leadership, and they show that there is organized support for stronger limits on ICE and CBP. ------ FROM OUR FRIENDS & ALLIES

Indivisible Mid-Peninsula is holding a Young Electeds Panel, targeted for Gen Z and Millennials who are eager to learn how to take action for change, on March 19, https://www.mobilize.us/indivisiblemidpen/event/902220/
