January 2, 2026 Email to Active Group

This “Active Group 2” email is in addition to our monthly update that goes to the full list. It’s meant for members who want to take action and don’t mind more frequent messages (about once every 1–2 weeks). In this web version, some sensitive details may be omitted; the best way to stay fully informed is to sign up for the email list and check "Group 2".

------ FIRST THINGS FIRST

First things first: we’re organizing a last-minute protest as part of the national ICE Out for Good – Minnesota Solidarity Day of Action THIS FRIDAY in Santa Clara, the likely site of a future Super Bowl–related ICE surge. We’ll be in front of the Hilton, 4:30–6:00pm.

We’ll also be making zines tomorrow both for this action and for our February 7 anti-ICE protest.

------ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FEBRUARY 7 EVENT

We’re putting out a call for volunteers for our February 7 event focused on elections, “Fighting for America: How We Win 2026.” It’s now in partnership with Santa Clara County Democratic Party, Indivisible Portola Valley, and Indivisible Mid-Peninsula.

Do you have access to a sound system that could serve a crowd of ~300 people? Are you good with tech or stage logistics? We’re looking for people to help both before the event and on the day of.

------ CALL CONGRESS: NO MORE MONEY FOR ICE

Call the Senate and House to demand no funding for ICE. Email them. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced in a closed-door meeting on Tuesday that he would oppose the bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security for the rest of the fiscal year. But the Democratic caucus is not engaged in a formal whip operation to encourage all members to vote against the bill, which is likely to get a vote on Thursday. So: call and make your voices heard. Tell them no more blank checks for ICE and no more funding increases for agencies that terrorize our communities.

Let’s continue to support and stand with Minnesota, where organizers and communities are leading the fight for accountability and an end to ICE violence.
